I attach for your information some leaflets about Purchase Tax in this country which Palmer hus obtained from the Customs and Excise Department. understand that the person to contact in that Department to discuss the matter with is J.R.Clover, whose telephone number is Mansion House 1515, extension 1346.

Palmer has bad a word with the Board of Inland Revenue and it appears that as regards Estate Duty you should get in touch with one sterling, whose telophone number is Byron 3444. His office is at Harrow, but I derstand he is available to come to Somerset House, for the purpose of seeing you, any day except "ondays.

If you run across any diffic lty in making arrangements for these talks let us know.

You may like to see that was finally said in our despatch to Hong Kong about the Estimates and I enclose

a co y of it. As rega de the reference to your discussing things with the Board of Inland Revenue and the Board of Trade, it seems that Customs and Excise should be substituted for the latter.
